We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Director, Finance to join our Senior Leadership Team in our Kitchener office, who will lead our high-performing finance team in supporting our ambitious growth plans. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the continued health and growth of our organization. The Director, Finance is a tactic focused and results-oriented leader, responsible for overseeing all financial reporting and management for the organization. This role encompasses a broad range of finance functions, including team leadership, financial planning and analysis, cash flow management, merger and acquisition integration, and strategic execution. As the Director, Finance, you will be responsible for ensuring the finance function is well positioned to support the organization’s growth initiatives with a mandate to improve operations each year. This position serves as a key business partner to the Executive and Senior Leadership teams, providing financial insights and guidance to support strategic and operational decision-making. MTE Consultants is a multidisciplinary engineering firm that has been shaping Ontario since 1985 with offices in Kitchener, Burlington, Toronto, London and Stratford. Our services include civil, geotechnical and structural engineering, building and environmental science, and land surveying. Responsibilities As a member of the Senior Leadership team, support the company’s strategy and goals, executing short to mid-term departmental goals and identifying customer and business needs, adjusting departmental objectives accordingly Drive the Financial Management plan for the organization Oversee the annual corporate budgeting process Coordinate and continually evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems for the company including budgeting, tax planning, and conservation of assets Oversee the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, ledger and account maintenance and data entry, ensuring financial records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards Oversee the accurate and timely delivery of financial reporting, management reports and variance analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis Maintain all accounting policy documentation and educate internal stakeholders Manage and oversee system updates and controls, including ERP upgrades (currently Microsoft Dynamics- Finance & Operations) Assess the impact of changes in the business on internal controls, update narratives, design new controls and review system testing results as needed Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors, banks, insurance providers, and other key stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and alignment on financial matters Provide financial expertise, analysis, and recommendations in cross-functional team project setting and present findings and specific recommendations to management Recognize, communicate, and advise on weaknesses in business operations, guiding the business to solve root causes and improve performance Champion the adoption of digital tools and technologies that enhance financial reporting, project management, and operational efficiency Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues, and working to resolve them Build strong teams by attracting and developing the best talent, bringing out the best in others, empowering and providing constructive feedback Ensure all team members understand departmental goals and their personal performance objectives, are aligned with overall company goals Accountable for the overall engagement, productivity, turnover and bench strength of the team Ensure proper training, development and mentoring of all finance staff Requirements Post Secondary Degree in Finance or Business Administration; an MBA is considered an asset Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a financial or accounting capacity including managing finance policies, audit, reporting and taxation processes Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role leading large teams of both transactional and professional staff Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and Finance systems and technology Experience in a professional service industry handling merger and acquisition processes is considered an asset Experience with financial related software, including Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations and related financial dashboard systems Excellent management, negotiation and organizational skills Demonstrated ability to lead a team and achieve results Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal Proficient with MS Office, spreadsheets and related financial software Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills Willing and able to exercise the authority entrusted to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities What we offer This is a unique chance to shape the future of a growing firm while achieving personal and professional fulfillment through meaningful work Competitive Senior Leadership compensation, benefits, RRSP matching and performance bonuses Employee-Owned firm with shareholding opportunities Training and professional development opportunities Reimbursement for annual professional memberships Flexible work environment and work-life balance Collaborative culture Excited about what we do?
