You will receive direct mentorship from senior engineering leaders, guiding you toward your Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation while you rotate through critical mine functions. Who We Are Hudbay is a Canadian integrated mining company with operations and exploration activities across the Americas. We focus on the discovery, production, and marketing of base and precious metals. At Lalor Mine, we are mining gold, zinc, copper and silver using modern methods and a “safety‑first” culture. What You Will Do As an EIT, you will provide technical leadership to ensure the safe and optimal extraction of mineral deposits. You will work collaboratively with safety, operations and geology teams to execute the mine plan. Key Responsibilities Mine Planning: Design safe and efficient short‑to‑mid‑range extraction plans. Collaborate with geology to evaluate ore zones and minimize dilution. Drill & Blast Engineering: Design long‑hole blasts and stope drill layouts. Analyze cavity monitoring surveys (CMS) and perform statistical analysis to optimize blast performance. Operational Support: Travel underground regularly to validate plans, assess ground conditions and provide real‑time engineering solutions. Risk Management: Identify risks to the mine plan and implement appropriate mitigations. Safety Leadership: Champion health and safety standards in all engineering designs and daily operations. Qualifications Education: University Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering. Registration: Eligible for registration as an EIT with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM). Technical Skills: Proficiency in mining software (e.g., Deswik, Amine, AutoCAD, Promine) is highly advantageous.
