Reporting to the Senior Investment Strategist and working closely with the Portfolio Solutions team within Total Investment Solutions, this role is responsible for leading the portfolio consulting initiative providing strategic asset allocation guidance and expertise across traditional (fixed income, equities) and non-traditional (private investments and alternative investments) to CIBC’s wealth channels. This leadership role ensures the delivery of tailored investment solutions to advisors and their clients, aligning portfolio strategies with client objectives, prevailing market conditions, and the views of the investment teams within CIBC Global Asset Management. The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $160,000 to $200,000. The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles. In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program. How You’ll Succeed Act as one of GAM’s principal client-facing portfolio consulting representatives to Private Wealth Management and other distribution channels to help drive commercial growth. Working within the Total Investment Solutions team’s portfolio construction process, develop and implement consulting frameworks and methodologies for portfolio construction and asset allocation to achieve practical diversification and return potential. Lead the design of bespoke portfolios tailored to client objectives, risk tolerances, time horizons, liquidity needs, and organizational risk/regulatory constraints. Develop and refine model portfolios and strategic asset allocation frameworks for different client segments based on a collaborative approach with Total Investment Solutions’ processes. Work with internal partners to build the portfolio consulting framework, including data source and management, data interface, risk analytics, stress-testing, and client reporting. Ensure portfolios are constructed with appropriate risk-return profiles, considering factors such as volatility, drawdown risk, liquidity and concentration. Lead the development of customized investment solutions and portfolio reviews for clients. Collaborate with the senior investment strategist to help monitor market trends, macroeconomic indicators, and regulatory developments to inform investment recommendations. Serve as the primary point of contact for key advisor clients, including one-on-one consultations, industry events & conferences, digital platforms, webinars and video calls and creating thought leadership content. Relationship building - Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a deep understanding of client needs that align with client objectives and market conditions. Significant experience in portfolio consulting, with a proven track record of success. A deep and holistic understanding of portfolio construction, client engagement, and commercialization of product strategy, with extensive experience across a range of asset classes. A high impact, well-respected and well-recognized portfolio strategist, and a robust network with both investment advisors and institutions. Risk aware - sound awareness of risk and impact on business, and makes informed, risk-aware decisions. Understand all relevant CIBC policies, Mutual Fund Sales Practices and relevant regulatory legislation.
