Senior Plant Metallurgist

Overview B2Gold is a responsible international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Gosse Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Columbia and Finland. Position Location and Reporting Structure : Reporting to the Mill Manager, this position will be a fly in- fly out rotation based in Nunavut, Canada. Responsibilities Oversee and optimize the gold recovery circuits – including crushing, grinding, cyanide leaching, carbon-in-leach (CIL) and carbon-in-pulp (CIP) systems, and gravity concentration – to maximize recovery and throughput. Design and supervise metallurgical test programs (bench and pilot scale) to support process development. Conduct laboratory and plant trials to evaluate grind optimization, ore variability, and reagent schemes, then integrate findings into the plant flowsheet. Develop metallurgical accounting systems for accurate reconciliation of gold balances. Prepare regular performance reports on recovery, throughput, and reagent consumption for management review. Mentor and train junior metallurgists and plant technicians. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. Provide day-to-day technical guidance for mill operations. Troubleshoot process upsets, and coordinate with maintenance, mining, geology, and engineering teams on process-related issues and improvement. Contribute to monthly and annual production planning and budgeting processes. Ensure all metallurgical activities adhere to safety, health and environmental policies. Conduct risk assessments, enforce plant operating procedures, and participate in hazard identification and mitigation to maintain a safe processing environment. Qualifications Six (6) years’ experience in gold processing operations, with direct exposure to large-scale CIL/CIP leach plants and gravity recovery circuits. Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. In-depth knowledge of gold metallurgy, including grinding/milling, cyanidation, carbon adsorption, gravity concentration, and tailings management. Proven track record in process optimization, data analysis, and metallurgical troubleshooting. Familiarity with metallurgical software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet) and data systems (e.g., PI, Excel, SQL).
