Assistant / Associate / Full Professor Academic Infectious Diseases physician, Clinician Scientist We are seeking an Academic Infectious Diseases physician at the Clinician Scientist level for a full-time appointment with the University of Toronto (Temerty Faculty of Medicine) and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The position is expected to be approximately 25% clinical and 75% research, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026, or another mutually agreeable date thereafter. The successful candidate will join the Division of Infectious Diseases at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, providing inpatient consultation services for complex patient populations and contributing to clinical services spanning medical, surgical, oncology, and trauma/critical care. The role includes approximately 6–12 weeks of inpatient infectious diseases service coverage per year and one half-day per week in the combined general Infectious Diseases and Complex OutPatient Antibiotic Treatment (COPAT) clinic. The candidate should seek a cross-appointment in the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies and supervise graduate students and medical trainees in clinical research. Responsibilities include developing a research program that fosters innovative clinical trials to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases, and contributing to the hospital’s strategic direction to accelerate clinical trials. Research excellence will be assessed by grants, publications in leading journals, invited conference presentations, awards, and related accomplishments, in the context of career stage. The successful applicant must demonstrate specialization and accomplishments in research. Qualifications: MD degree and PhD degree, or current enrollment in a PhD program or equivalent training and experience Eligibility for certification in Infectious Diseases by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or international equivalent, or eligibility for medical licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Compensation will be in the range of $300,000–$350,000, commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association for clinical billings and benefits, and may participate in the department’s group medical, dental, and life insurance plans.
