Role Description

This is a contract role for a 4G/5G RAN Test Engineer in Greater Toronto, Canada. The engineer will work on-site to conduct test engineering tasks, support data collection, and analyze test results to ensure the reliability and performance of the RAN systems.

  • Perform RAN testing and validation, regression, functional, performance, and stability testing of new software and hardware.
  • Interface with both internal and external customers to technical support for RAN hardware/software.
  • Validate and prepare test cases and system documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in root cause analysis of software and hardware-related issues
  • Perform implementation of new software and maintenance loads.
  • Support lab/FOA testing and validation of new hardware and software.
  • Assist with customer problem investigation and support all facets of resolution on-site / customer lab.
  • Accept tasks and problems/situations that differ, requiring creativity to search for optimal solutions, when only broad and general guidelines exist for solving problems.
  • Proven ability to interact at multiple levels within internal & customer organizations.
  • Ability to achieve results within established time frames and requirements.

Qualifications

  • A firm/expert working knowledge of 5G(SA/NSA), LTE and VONR/VoLTE, IMS SIP, EPC/NGC.
  • Bachelor's degree /Master's degree in Computer Systems, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, and Information Systems.
  • Must have 2-4 years of experience with the following: RAN Engineering for 5G, 4G; Radio Network Commissioning and Integration of 4G, 5G.
  • Must have 2 years of experience with Small Cells/FEMTO, including FEMTO Gateway, and Security IPSEC.
  • Must have experience in 5G SA & NSA gNodeB & UE side log analysis and E2E network understanding.
  • Must have testing experience with different mobiles, CPE in various small cells, or Femto.
  • Have experience/knowledge of lab/field testing and T&M tools like XCAL, and XCAP.
  • Deep understanding of LTE, VoLTE, 5G-NSA & SA call flows with the ability to understand and analyze traces (PCAP, eNB/gNB traces), UE, and Core networks.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols like TCP/IP, SIP.
  • Self-motivated individual to get things done and report the daily testing status to the reporting manager/team.
  • Flexible to work with development teams in different time zones.
  • Should be familiar with bug reporting tools like JIRA, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Wireshark, and Linux is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
