Engineering & Maintenance Manager role at Piston Automotive The Engineering and Maintenance Manager will be responsible for ensuring safe maintenance, repair and/or replacement of plant equipment and systems to achieve maximum production, quantity and quality. The role leads advanced troubleshooting activities, serves as the link between Corporate Manufacturing/Controls Engineering and the production facility, collaborates on process and controls updates, installs and troubleshoots electrical systems, implements process improvements, and manages facility repair work. Key responsibilities include overseeing maintenance technicians, providing training, communicating with stakeholders, working with vendors, ensuring safety and quality, interfacing with IT, and making minor operation decisions. Overtime may be required in emergency situations or outside regular business hours. Responsibilities Directly supervise maintenance staff and assign tasks. Transfer equipment and process documentation to the Production Plant before SOP. Develop and track maintenance and capital equipment budgets. Continuously review plant equipment operation to minimize unplanned downtime and identify improvement opportunities. Develop schedules and track preventive maintenance for the entire facility. Analyze and calculate machine performance using PLC data. Plan, coordinate, and implement assigned projects. Oversee integration and networking of PCs and PLCs (TCP/IP, Ethernet IP). Provide expertise on controls to prevent or minimize production downtime. Drive lean concepts (5S, OEE, Kanban, Visual Factory, TPM) throughout the organization. Maintain correct functioning of all PLCs and communications. Complete monthly BOS charts per preventive maintenance. Maintain spare parts inventory and work with vendors to ensure proper stock levels. Qualifications Eight years of experience in a Maintenance Manager or related role. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Instrumentation, Robotics, or related field. Eight years of mechanical expertise in identifying and correcting malfunctions. Experience with Fanuc Robotics, Cognex vision, and Arc Flash certificates. Experience with 480V, 110V, and 24VDC circuits. Eight years of PLC programming experience (Allen Bradley Micro Logic, SLC 500s, Control Logix 5000). Eight years of experience working with AC/DC electrical systems.Six years of advanced HMI programming experience (AB Panel View, Panel View Plus). Eight or more years working with manual and automated assembly systems. At least four years of effectively presenting information to managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
