Position Summary The E-Commerce Support Officer develops and maintains the campus store’s e-commerce website according to criteria established by the bookstore management. The officer enters and updates data, creates text, takes and uploads photographs and images for a variety of e-catalogues, informational pages, links, and marketing pages. They work with store buyers and sales floor staff to ensure product delivery. Occasionally, the officer interacts directly with ecommerce customers and researches new e-technology developments related to the bookstore. Key Responsibilities Ensuring catalogued product information and photos are correct and updated on a regular basis, implementing changes to the Text Adoption pages, updating and maintaining the used-book listing, updating and maintaining Events and Surveys pages, and implementing promotional and advertisement changes on the site as per the marketing schedule. Responsible for website layout design and implementing the e-commerce and campus store’s branding on the website, which would involve working with the web-host vendor to implement changes, improvements, and maintenance. Liaising with other college departments (e.g. Registrar, Library, Culinary School) to develop and maintain links. Developing e-book resources and capabilities. Keeping abreast of current and future web technology that may be applicable to the bookstore website. Providing revenue and cost reports to management. Working with the store manager and buyers to determine the annual marketing program and specific advertised product and specials for the e-commerce program. Contacting third-party vendors to advertise and/or provide linked services on the site. Monitoring and implementing web security. Other duties as assigned. Educational and Experience Requirements Minimum two-year diploma or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institute in Web-design and/or E-Commerce. Minimum of two (2) years of hands‑on experience in e-commerce web design, commercial website operations, and web order fulfilment practices. Expertise with HTML and PHP, and current web‑graphics software (e.g. Adobe Suite). Skills and Attributes Demonstrated intermediate digital photography skills. Solid time management and coordinating skills. Excellent communication, collaboration, teamwork and interpersonal skills at a professional level. Demonstrated commitment to uphold the Polytechnic’s priorities on diversity and equity. This role is 100% in-person and may require occasional weekend/after-hours work on demand. Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
