Job Description This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA). The successful candidate will be offered a tenured or tenure‑track appointment with the rank of Assistant Professor, which is in accordance with the Academic Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package. Location – This role is in‑person at North Campus, Edmonton. The Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position, starting as early as July 1st, 2026, in the area of Robotics, 3D Computer Vision and Computer Graphics; and with strong fundamentals in mathematical and geometric modeling. We value interdisciplinary research topics that span across areas, focus on real‑world physical robotics and embodied computing. UofA has significant strength in ML/AI and collaborations between CS and Engineering on robotics and vision. Responsibilities Supervise graduate students Teach graduate and undergraduate courses Establish their own research program by conducting independent research in the target area, disseminating research results, and applying for external funding for their research program Qualifications The successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree, by the appointment date. They are expected to have demonstrated strong research potential evidenced by publications in top venues (conferences or journals) within robotics, vision and/or graphics. They should also have strong communication skills and demonstrated commitment to highly effective graduate and undergraduate teaching. Strong potential for productive interactions with other researchers in the department and in other disciplines at the University of Alberta, including roboticists in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Medicine, will be considered an asset.
