Our client in the education sector is looking for a contract based intermediate systems administrator to help with network administration, windows, and Linux administration.


Location: Hybrid St. Catherines

Duration: 6 months + extension


Responsibilities:

System Management :

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, including Windows Server and various Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, and Windows Server roles and features.
  • Perform regular system updates, patch management, and security configurations.

Network Administration :

  • Monitor network performance to ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and provide solutions.
  • Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.

Security :

  • Implement and maintain security best practices across all systems and network devices.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Manage firewalls, VPNs, and endpoint security solutions.

Support and Troubleshooting :

  • Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting for hardware and software issues.
  • Respond to and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.


Requirements:

  • Experience :
  • 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Proven experience managing Windows Server and Linux systems in a production environment.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).


Certifications (Preferred but not required):

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • CompTIA Linux+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
