Responsibilities Administration of the sick leave, short-term disability and long-term disability leave benefit plans. Manage disability claims management and WSIB activities, including forms filing, incident investigation and return to work. Ensure workplace accommodation processes are leveraged to achieve timely employee solutions and positive employee experience, fostering open and ongoing communications. Provide advice to supervisors and staff on wellness, sickness and disability management issues. Support employees in return to work and workplace accommodation processes; collaborate with Human Resources Officers regarding accommodations and return to work plans. Manage case files through all stages of occupational and non-occupational illness and injury; ensure relevant medical documentation is collected. Collaborate with supervisors on disability management and absence prevention. Oversee and maintain contact with staff on incidental and short-term sick leaves. Facilitate employee reintegration through planning, implementation and coordination of timely modified work programs. Liaise with health care professionals, third-party providers, disability insurers, WSIB, LTD to obtain required information. Coordinate the process and placement of employees with complex accommodation needs. Conduct ergonomic assessments and workstation evaluations to identify risks and improvement opportunities across schools and the board office as required. Provide training and information sessions as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Minimum 3-5 years’ related work experience, preferably in a unionized environment, with ability to build constructive relationships with union representatives and stakeholders. CHRP or Certificate in Disability Management is an asset. Experience with WSIB claims, accommodations and disability management, and employee investigations. Knowledge of disability management principles and practices and ergonomic principles. Knowledge of HR practices and processes related to OHSA, ESA, WSIA, OHRC, AODA, and related legislation. Excellent organizational and analytical skills; ability to work independently and in a team; strong written and oral communication skills. Valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Benefits There is also a benefits and pension plan available.
