We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator to join our team on-site in our Calgary facility working 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday). THE ROLE Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR & Payroll Coordinator is responsible for full cycle payroll and providing administrative support for all human resources functions including employee records, recruitment, benefit advising, compliance with labour laws, policy drafting, and other employee-related operations. The HR & Payroll Coordinator is an essential member of the Human Resources department, supporting the HR manager with various processes and projects to ensure organizational success through effective people practices. DAY-TO-DAY Payroll: Full cycle payroll processing of Canadian and USA hourly and salary employees, including but not limited to remittances, ROE’s, T4’s, PD7A’s, off cycle pay runs, journal entries, management reports, etc. Investigate payroll discrepancies, review and document processes and find efficiencies. Health Benefit administration, and savings programs management. Maintain employee files, HRIS system data, and handle employee questions in a timely manner. Conduct regular audits of payroll processes and resolve discrepancies Recruitment and Onboarding: Assist with recruitment processes, including job postings, scheduling, and candidate screening, as well as coordinating background checks, employment verifications, and reference checks. Manage new employee onboarding processes, sending appropriate documentation, start date, and training requirements. Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted people and culture specialist on HR and payroll related questions or concerns, and policy interpretation. Coordinate employee status changes, offboarding requests, benefits, and compensation adjustments. Compliance & Security: Stay up to date with federal, provincial, and municipal employment laws, payroll and employment related regulations and legislation to ensure company compliance. Support the HR Manager in developing and implementing HR & Payroll policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees. Other Projects: Collaborate with the HR Manager on special projects to develop and implement a comprehensive human resources strategy aligned with the organization's goals and values. Special Projects will cover a wide variety of HR and Payroll functions including performance management, total compensation, organizational development, succession planning, and more. IDEAL FIT Education & Experience Post Secondary Education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field PCP and CPHR designations an asset 3 + Years of Human Resources experience Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) 3+ years of full cycle Payroll experience USA Payroll Experience is an asset Skills and Attributes Attention to detail and confidentiality of information Demonstrated proactive initiative and problem solving/critical thinking skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organization and time management ability Resilience and adaptability to a fast paced environment, wearing “multiple hats” REQUIREMENTS Criminal Record Check WORKING CONDITIONS On-site in SE Calgary GMP compliant facility 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday) Occasional interaction with chemicals and hazardous materials WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU We are committed to keeping our team healthy and motivated, so they can do the best work of their lives.
