Position Summary As the customer base continues to grow, our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering designs that meet client specifications, internal standards, industry best practices, and all applicable codes and regulatory requirements. You will also provide strategic direction, allocate resources effectively, and collaborate cross-functionally to support successful project execution from concept through completion. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and technical oversight to the engineering team, ensuring on-time delivery of design packages, including: Preliminary and final process simulations (e.g., using VMGSim) Major equipment sizing and technical datasheet development (vessels, piping, pumps, heat exchangers, reboilers, line heaters, etc.) Design calculations for pressure vessels, pipe stress, structural and mechanical systems Internal design of both pressure and non-pressure retaining equipment Review and approve P&IDs, line lists, line lists, and issue professional engineering stamps (P.Eng) where required Approve and sign off on control/relief valves, pressure vessels, piping isometrics, and engineered drawings Provide technical escalation support to resolve complex engineering and design challenges Align engineering priorities and resources across multiple active projects in support of project managers Collaborate with drafting, fabrication, procurement, quality, and other internal departments to ensure fully integrated project delivery Oversee and implement engineering processes, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives Promote a culture of safety, ethics, accountability, innovation, and operational excellence Accountabilities Ensure compliant, efficient, and technically sound designs for pressure-retaining equipment and mechanical facilities Monitor engineering progress across all projects and intervene to mitigate delays or technical risks Coordinate and oversee third-party engineering support when needed, ensuring alignment with project objectives Uphold a safe, ethical, and compliant work environment in accordance with corporate safety and ethics policies Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required); advanced degrees or engineering management certifications are considered an asset Must be registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Alberta prior to employment start 5-7+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 2-3 years in a leadership or management role within a fabrication or EPC environment Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards, including ASME BPVC, ANSI, and B31.3 Shop and field operations experience is strongly preferred Familiarity with drafting, fabrication, machining practices, and project execution methodologies Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based profit sharing program Comprehensive benefits package (dental, vision, extended health, life insurance) RRSP and savings matching planFast-paced, challenging, and growth-focused work environment Significant opportunities for long-term career advancement Work Location This is a full-time, permanent, in-person role located near SE Calgary.
