Overview The National Council of Indigenous Midwives (NCIM) is seeking an Executive Director (Remote) to lead the organization and advance culturally safe sexual and reproductive health services for Indigenous families. This is a collaborative, thoughtful, adaptable, and highly organized leadership role reporting to the Core Leadership Circle and working closely with CAM’s Executive Director to realise NCIM’s vision and mission. NCIM is a non-incorporated, self-governed national organization led by a volunteer Core Leadership Circle. NCIM advocates for midwifery education, midwifery services, and birth choice for Indigenous communities, in alignment with the U.N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Support organizational strategic planning processes Develop and oversee annual work plans aligned with strategic goals Mitigate liability and risks in collaboration with the Core Leadership Support governance, organize the Annual General Meeting and other relevant events Oversee policy and procedural documents to support the approved governance model Fundraising & Communications Strategy Oversee development and implementation of a fundraising strategy for long-term financial sustainability Manage relationships with donors and partners With CAM’s Communications & Events team: oversee all communications and PR/marketing strategies Coordinate media requests and liaise with CAM’s Director of Policy & Communication as needed Act as a spokesperson for NCIM to enhance visibility Community Relations & Program Management Build relationships with partners, government agencies, donors, members, and Indigenous health organizations Identify and develop programming opportunities and project proposals Design and lead membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs, ensuring donor compliance Advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility internally and externally Financial & People Operations Oversight Lead a high-performing, geographically dispersed team Establish transparent communication systems Determine staffing needs in consultation with CAM’s ED and recruit as required Orient new staff and ensure training; implement HR policies and procedures Oversee performance management and contracts with consultants/suppliers Participate in budget development, operational planning, and HR policy development Develop NCIM annual general operations budget; monitor budgets with CAM’s Finance team Liaise with CAM’s Director of Finance on financial needs Job Requirements Prior leadership experience in an Indigenous-led/not-for-profit organization Leadership anchored in First Nations, Inuit, and/or Métis worldviews Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities Experience developing and implementing fundraising strategies Ability to build relationships with federal government, Indigenous organizations, and local governance Commitment to justice, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in programs and leadership Strong collaborative leadership, capable of managing a remote, diverse team Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and priorities Excellent problem-solving and risk assessment skills Knowledge of cultural safety and trauma-informed approaches when working with Indigenous communities Understanding of health policy contexts affecting Indigenous health Excellent written and verbal English communication skills Assets Experience advocating for culturally safe sexual and reproductive health for Indigenous families Understanding of Indigenous midwifery landscape Ability to conduct work in an Indigenous language or French Experience with membership-based organizations Required Qualifications & Critical Commitments Legal authority to work in Canada Ability to travel across Canada as required Salary range: $100,000-$120,000 based on a 5-day work week (35 hours per week) Benefits: extended health benefits (at 12 weeks based on insurance provider requirements) + matching 2% Group RRSP plan Location: Remote.
