Inclusion Nova Scotia (Inclusion NS) is seeking a skilled and talented leader, excited to guide our not‑for‑profit organization to support and work with families in advancing the rights and full inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities. We support individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families in creating new possibilities for promising lives from inclusive education to employment and community inclusion, across the lifespan. Inclusion NS is an advocacy organization that helps shape policy and legislation, overcome obstacles to inclusion, create innovative solutions, and enable individuals and families to realize their dreams. We require a leader with a proven track record, demonstrated leadership talents, and excellent communication skills. This position requires someone who has: A deep understanding of and commitment to inclusion and human rights Strong relationship building and communication skills Demonstrated success in creating and sustaining community partnerships, including government relations Experience with navigating complex systems An excellent understanding of non‑profit accounting, with experience managing organizational finances. This includes knowledge and skills required for budget creation and oversight, financial reporting and analysis, as well as grant management and compliance Successfully led a team of individuals, both in‑person and hybrid As the Executive Director, you will be responsible to the Board of Directors of Inclusion NS. Key responsibilities include: Leading the development and operationalization of the organization’s strategic plan Ensuring the enactment and ongoing compliance with operating policies and procedures Hiring and guiding staff to ensure a common commitment to the organization’s values, vision, and goals Building and maintaining supportive relationships with families and individuals, partners within the disability sector, key external partners, and funders Seeking and securing funding opportunities to support and strengthen Inclusion NS's sustainability Guiding the implementation and monitoring of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Remedy The Executive Director will champion a vision that engages the broader community in supporting Inclusion NS’s mission, goals, strategies, and priorities to create the optimum climate for achievement. Energetic leadership, personal credibility, and commitment to transparency, team building, and board leadership will be hallmarks of the successful candidate’s skillset. With the provincial office based in Halifax, the successful candidate will ideally be based in or near the Halifax Regional Municipality. Some travel will be required through the province and within Canada.
