Aplin is proud to partner with a well-respected downtown Edmonton law firm to recruit a Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal. This role provides dedicated support to a lawyer recognized among Edmonton's Best Lawyers.In this role you will support a busy litigation practice with matters before both the Court of King's Bench of Alberta and the Federal Court of Canada. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who is confident managing litigation files, court filings, and procedural requirements in a fast-paced but quality-driven environment.The RoleYou will assist in the preparation, organization, and management of litigation files from inception through resolution. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing deadlines, and ensuring all court materials are accurate, compliant, and filed on time.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, format, file, and serve litigation documents in the Court of King's Bench and Federal CourtDraft and assemble pleadings, affidavits, motion/application materials, briefs, and Books of AuthoritiesCompile and manage Affidavits of Records, disclosure, and document productionManage litigation calendars, limitation dates, and court deadlinesCoordinate electronic and in-person court filings and liaise with court clerks, process servers, and opposing counselPrepare hyperlinked, bookmarked, and tabbed electronic court materialsMaintain organized physical and electronic files throughout the life of a matterProvide administrative and paralegal support through hearings, applications, and trialsQualifications & ExperiencePrevious experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant or ParalegalDemonstrated experience with the Court of King's Bench and/or Federal Court of CanadaStrong knowledge of applicable Rules of Court and filing proceduresAdvanced MS Word skills, strong PDF skills, including hyperlinking, bookmarking, OCR, and electronic court filingProven ability to manage multiple deadlines with a high level of accuracyProfessional communication skills and confidence dealing with courts and counselHighly organized, detail-oriented, and able to take direction preciselyAble to work independently while collaborating effectively with lawyers and team membersBenefits & PerksCompetitive compensation, comprehensive, top-tier benefits with 100% employer-paid premiumsRRSP matching programProfessional development and career advancement opportunitiesCollaborative, inclusive team environmentActive and engaged social committeeStable, well-established firm with a strong reputationProfessional, collegial work environmentExposure to sophisticated litigation filesRole designed for long-term growth and responsibilityAt Aplin — together with our brands CompuStaff and Impact Recruitment — we connect great people with great organizations across North America.
