(Al-Pac) is seeking a Coordinator, Environment to work out of our mill site near Athabasca, Alberta . The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting, monitoring, testing, and reporting for the purpose of maintaining environmental compliance and regulatory requirements. Who Are We? Role Responsibilities Regulations, Procedure Development and Implementation –Learn and understand the regulatory requirements pertaining to the facility. Review and understand new regulations and implement the requirements into millsite policies, procedures, and training. Incidents – report incidents immediately; work with pulp division to investigate the root cause, advise of appropriate clean up, and determine corrective actions to implement. Data Review, Collection, and Analysis- Produce accurate reports for government by collecting, verifying and inputting data into standard formats. Understand and interpret data/trends, identify, and communicate answers to the environment team, other internal teams or appropriate contractors. Improvement / Innovation – Assist in implementation of improvements and assist in performing non-routine work such as projects or working groups with industry and/or government representatives. Participate in ISO audits and ensure all required work conforms to the standards. Collect Samples and Perform Analysis - Know and understand mill processes and hazards to be able to work safely while collecting samples; prepare samples, perform testing, and properly ship or store samples. Compliance Field Duties - Conduct groundwater sampling, soil sampling, ash sampling, landfill/waste management, wildlife management, hazardous waste management, as required to maintain facility compliance. Surveys - Collaborate and complete requests for environment data through third-party surveys. Role Requirements University degree in a related field (preferred) or diploma. Expected to obtain the Alberta Landfill Operator Certification within 2 years of employment. Related experience in environmental programs/processes is an asset Experience in a pulp mill is an asset. Experience with ISO 14001 and 17025 is an asset Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) an asset On-call Rotation will be required for this role. Other Ability to prioritize, manage time well, multitask and troubleshoot. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently. Ability to work effectively under pressure, with changing priorities, deadlines, and to readily adapt to change. Must be available for emergencies and to work extended hours when necessary. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Proficient formal writing skills. Strong ability to critically think.
