Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Forest Resources Planning Coordinator to work out of our mill site in Athabasca, Alberta with a start date of May 1, 2026. The successful candidate is responsible for supporting the Forest Resources Team activities through an office/field application to ensure that production, quality, environmental and legal requirements are met in a safe and cost-effective manner. This role is offered as a 2-year contract with the potential for renewal based on performance.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and conducts quality control on work completed by planning consultants and contractors for the purpose of obtaining government timber harvest approvals and the securing of fibre to the mill. May supervise and maintain operational planning related contracts.
  • Layout harvest areas as required, including both office and field work.
  • Liaises with various internal and external stakeholders, including the public, Indigenous communities and government staff as required to obtain plan approvals.
  • Works with the planning team & team planning supervisor to schedule and plan approvals as well as meets the ready to harvest targets as required by the layout and logflow schedules.
  • Enters, analyses and maintains data and information and provides related records and reports as required for Woodlands operational planning requirements.
  • Maintains systems as required to ensure data integrity and accurate information.
  • Complete office and field work as required to meet the above tasks as well as other Woodlands-related tasks, including GIS work.

Role Requirements:

  • Sc. or diploma in Forest Management or a related field.
  • Current holder of, or eligible for registration for RPF or RPFT designation.
  • Experience working in the forestry sector in a summer student capacity as a planning co-ordinator or a related field, including silviculture and timber harvesting. Additional experience welcome.
  • Experience using software/programs (e.g. ArcGIS Desktop, etc.) and related extensions and relational databases.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Professional (Excel, and Access), Microsoft Windows, Internet, and computer network systems
  • Knowledge in the use of LRM and LIMS systems is considered an asset.

Other:

  • Ability to work independently and in a team with internal/external stakeholders to achieve predetermined goals and meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • A basic understanding and comprehension of forest management, forestry legislation and land use planning in Alberta, particularly as it relates to obtaining Government approvals for the purposes of securing fiber for the mill.
  • Clean drivers abstract and valid driver's license
  • Ability to commute/relocate to meet the needs of the role.
  • Flexibility to work Fridays/weekends on occasion.

Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is currently seeking a Lubrication Technician to join our team at the mill site near Athabasca, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for lubricating equipment, components, and machine assemblies, as well as collecting oil samples. They will also be expected to identify and recommend repairs or replacements for mechanical and electrical components that do not meet safety, performance, or efficiency standards. Additionally, this role involves troubleshooting, reporting issues, and resolving problems to support equipment reliability and performance.

Role Responsibilities

  • Performing lubrication tasks throughout site, applying applications of greases and oils. Pull oil sample to send off site for analysis of any contamination and oil properties.
  • Perform all required maintenance tasks in accordance with mill quality and mechanical standards.
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement to maintenance tasks and practices to increase reliability.
  • Maintain maintenance work records and work in their related trade as required.
  • Operate overhead cranes and mobile equipment.
  • Inspect systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance and reliability.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory and safety codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.
  • Ensure all safety mandatory documentation is completed, hazard assessments are preformed including all required learning sign offs. Work always following safety protocols and workspace clear and hazards are controlled.
  • Document details of all work completed and entering work request for any follow up work requested.

Role Requirements

  • Alberta-certified journeyperson Trades Ticket including Millwrights, HD Mechanics and Auto Mechanics, or 3rd year apprentices (apprentices with 3rd year schooling completed, but missing hours, will also be considered).
  • 5 – 7+ years' experience in manufacturing/forestry maintenance and service or performing other electrical related duties including machinery and equipment installation, repair and maintenance an asset.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) an asset.

Other

  • Ability to prioritize, manage time well, multitask and troubleshoot.
  • The ability to read and understand complex instructions.
  • Ability to work indoors (high temperature) and outdoors (sub-zero temperatures) at physically demanding tasks that often require climbing and lifting or moving heavy items.
  • The job may involve standing for long periods.
  • There is some risk of injury when working with power tools and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge and skill in meeting deadlines with multiple duties and tasks.

The successful candidate is responsible for the effective coordination of a fleet of drivers and vehicles for our Woodlands Transportation group. This position provides operational support services and acts as first-line supervisor of the Woodlands Transportation, Operations and Logistics areas. This role is a casual opportunity requiring availability for days, nights, weekends and on call work at an as-needed frequency.

  • Valid driver's license.
  • 1+ years of dispatching, transportation, or similar experience an asset
  • Knowledgeable in the transportation industry an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical skills with computers, including but not limited to the Microsoft Suite (excel, word, etc) and ability to adapt to new systems.
