Warehouse Material Handler/Class 3 Driver

As a full line distributor of pet food and accessories, we deliver to a network of over 800 independent Retail Pet Food Stores throughout central and south-western Ontario, northern and eastern Ontario and in the Maritime Provinces. We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Warehouse Material Handler/Class 3 Driver for our day shift.

Snapshot of the job:

This position reports directly to the Atlantic Branch Manager and is responsible for:

Material Handling - 2-3 days per week

• picking and filling orders from stock using handheld scanners
• packing and shipping orders
• managing and organizing product in assigned locations
• performing inventory counts
• Operate forklift/walkie
• Rotating stock so that older dates are used first

Driving - up to 3 days per week

• Transporting finished goods such as pet food, supplies and accessories by truck from our warehouse to our customers' retail stores located in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI
• Providing a high-level of customer service when interacting with store personnel
• Collecting cheques, cash and credit request forms from stores
• Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
• Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules
• Documenting and logging work/rest periods and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
• Complying with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
• Maneuvering trucks into loading or unloading positions
• Collecting and verifying delivery instructions
• Reporting defects, accidents or violations

What you will bring:

Valid Class 3 Drivers Licence

1 -3 years of warehouse experience and 1 year of Truck driving experience

Computer skills: MS Outlook, Email, RF Scanner experience, ERP/Inventory systems experience

High School diploma

Experience with operating forklifts (experience with reach trucks a strong asset)

Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

Strong team-player with a great sense of humour

Willingness to work overtime when required to ensure our customers' needs are met

Able to lift 50 lbs
