- Lead wildlife research projects: Plan, organize, and carry out studies from design through data analysis to support science-based decisions.
- Analyze complex data: Use advanced tools and methods to interpret ecological and disease data and ensure accuracy and quality.
- Coordinate teams and partnerships: Work with researchers, Indigenous communities, and stakeholders to share information and achieve project goals.
- Prepare reports and presentations: Communicate findings through technical reports, scientific publications, and presentations to diverse audiences.
- Conduct field and lab work: Collect samples, operate specialized equipment, and follow safety protocols for wildlife disease testing.
Mandatory requirements
- You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
- You are/or are willing to be vaccinated against the rabies virus.
- You are capable of working in a variety to terrain and adverse weather conditions.
You possess:
- strong understanding of wildlife biology, ecology, conservation challenges, and disease ecology (including One Health concepts)
- demonstrated ability to design and implement research projects using advanced quantitative methods and wildlife disease sampling techniques
You possess:
- ability to review, analyze, and interpret large, complex ecological and wildlife disease datasets using advanced software and GIS tools
- competence in ensuring data quality, integrity, and accurate reporting for scientific and management purposes
You possess:
- ability to prepare technical reports, scientific publications, and deliver presentations to diverse audiences, including Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
- effective interpersonal skills to foster collaboration with research teams, partners, and external organizations.
You possess:
- proven ability to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate multiple research projects concurrently, including budgeting and timeline management
- strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
You possess:
- proficiency in wildlife sampling methods, specimen collection, and safe laboratory practices for diagnostic testing
- knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and ability to follow safe operating procedures in field and lab settings
