Refer to the "How to apply" section if you require a disability-related accommodation. **What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role, you will: - identify existing research and monitoring needs and emerging scientific approaches - assist with the development and implementation of multi-year research and monitoring project plans - plan, organize and conduct individual research and monitoring projects for large mammals and their habitats (i.e. field studies, experimental projects, reviews, and analyses) - coordinate purchasing, aircraft acquisition, field scheduling, meetings and other logístical arrangements as needed in support of the aforementioned research programs - coordinate the collection, filtering, storage and analysis of large datasets of animal locations and occurrence data - provide professional leadership expertise through the delivery of workshops and seminars - provide advice and guidance in project design meetings, reviewing work plans/protocols/strategies and analyses - participate on regional and provincial task teams and represent the ministry on provincial, national and sometimes international technical committees/working groups **How do I qualify?**: **Mandatory**: **Project management skills**: - You have the proven ability to plan and coordinate project and proposal reviews and arrange client and public meetings and workshops. - You have demonstrated ability to safely conduct and lead independent research under mínimal supervision and see projects through from design to completion, including budget submissions, organizing meetings, field schedules and resources. **Communication and interpersonal skills**: - You have superior communication skills to discuss technical scientific materials and procedures and practices. - You can build relationships and work harmoniously with clients, research scientists, ministry staff and stakeholder groups. - You have excellent written communication skills and demonstrated ability to contribute to and prepare various written materials (i.e. literature reviews, articles in scientific journals, technical reports, newsletters and magazine articles). **Data management and analysis knowledge**: - You have demonstrated knowledge of data management principles and practices to ensure the validity and accuracy of large spatial and non-spatial data sets. - You have proven ability to conduct and interpret spatial and non-spatial statistical analyses with proven experience using programs such as ArcGIS and R to rigorously analyze data and provide scientifically valid input to peer reviewed publications, policy deliberations and resource management decisions. **Wildlife research and analytical skills**: - You have experience and knowledge of field, research and monitoring practices including knowledge of how to successfully conduct research and monitoring projects and large scale field studies. - You have proven experience with telemetry techniques, use of remote and electronic data collection devices and analysis of large datasets of animal location and activity data. - You are a highly developed professional leader with research expertise to review work plans, diagnose issues and recommend solutions. **Scientific knowledge and skills**: - You have advanced knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of wildlife ecology and management (i.e. wildlife populations and their habitats), landscape ecology, and natural resource management. - You have knowledge of large mammals and their habitats, and experience with literature reviews and meta-analysis. **Additional Information**: **Address**: - 1 English Temporary, durati
