Project Manager/Estimator

Prairie North Const. Ltd. (PNCL) is an earthmoving contracting company committed to providing Safe, Efficient and High-Quality services for all applications of land clearing, earthmoving, grading, excavation, road building, hydrological management, environmental remediation, reclamation and contract mining.

We are seeking motivated and talented individuals who possess the technical skills required to contribute to a light civil team.

Position is located out of Acheson, AB with occasional out of town travel as required to support the company's interests.

Duties:

• Participate in early-stage feasibility proposals and estimate development.
• The accurate and timely preparation of full-cost heavy civil estimates for projects including materials, equipment, labour and subcontracts
• Engage in tender submission preparation including execution plan preparation, schedule preparation, resource definition and assessment and vendor selection.
• Responsible for full cycle project execution, from start-up, execution, through to close out of the project to the satisfaction of the client, consistent with safety, cost, schedule, and contractual requirements.
• Demonstrate experience with Contract Change Management and Project Controls disciplines.
• Develop and implement site specific plans with the field and senior management teams.
• Proficient at monitoring project deliverables/KPI and reporting.
• Prepare project status reports and look-ahead schedules for internal and client review.
• Demonstrate exceptional safety leadership, ensuring understanding and compliance of all related safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Coach, mentor and lead by example. Provide direction and review the performance of team members reporting directly to the Project Manager function.
• Strong communication skills, both one-on-one and in group settings within and outside the organization
• Ensure established company goals are realized while maintaining client relationships that will enhance future business.
• Play a lead role in influencing client expectations and ensuring client satisfaction in area of responsibility. Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Business Development with current, pre-existed, and new clients.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role
• Civil Engineering diploma or related technical degree preferred.
• PMP Designation is considered an asset.
• Must have prior experience working with light civil earthwork projects preferably in the roadbuilding industry.
• A detailed understanding of all aspects of light civil earthwork construction: technology, equipment, materials, bid management, claims management and safety.
• Experience with multi-rate type contracts which include lump sum, time and material, unit rate.
• Experience with projects where LEM's are generated for client billing.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; exemplary soft skills essential.
• Excellent written skills for planning, execution, and internal and external reporting.
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office products; notably Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Explorer, Bid2Win software experience is a definite asset,
• Exposure and participation with Primavera P6 Scheduling software beneficial, MS Project secondary.
• Demonstrated performance of budget development through exposure to estimating software, along with project financial cost forecasting skills an asset.

• Have a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
