Eastern Residential Support Board Inc. (ERSB) is a progressive employer dedicated to inclusive community living for individuals with intellectual and physical exceptionalities. We are currently seeking a dynamic Manager of Human Resources to join our leadership team and help champion a culture of support, development, and excellence across our organization.

ERSB is a non -profit dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and promoting community inclusion for people with exceptionalities through safe, supportive, and responsive residential care and services. ERSB currently operates thirteen cooperative living arrangements in the St. John's metro area and employs 168 employees. ERSB is a unionized organization , with NAPE being the bargaining agent.

What You'll Do

As the HR Manager, you will lead and coordinate a wide range of essential human resources functions that directly support the success of our people and programs. You will:

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment: job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding
  • Collaborate with managers to identify staffing needs and job requirements
  • Create accessible onboarding tools (e.g. multilingual modules, video tours of group homes)

Employee Relations

  • Promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture
  • Respond to staff concerns and support resolution of conflicts
  • Develop cultural awareness initiatives, including videos featuring staff from diverse backgrounds

Training & Development

  • Assess training needs and coordinate impactful learning opportunities
  • Deliver onboarding sessions and staff development programs
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust accordingly

Performance Management

  • Oversee performance reviews and improvement plans
  • Provide coaching and support for managers and staff

Compliance & Policy Management

· Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local labor laws and regulations

· Maintain employee records and documentation in accordance with legal requirements

· Develop an HR strategy covering recruitment, training, and performance management

· Support board subcommittees and HR strategic planning

Compensation & Benefits

  • Oversee the administration of employee compensation, benefits, and payroll.
  • Conduct compensation and benefits benchmarking and job evaluations
  • Advice employees on benefits options and manage open enrollment processes staff with benefit options and enrollment

Health & Safety

  • Monitor and promote workplace safety and well-being
  • Introduce health and wellness initiatives (e.g. "Self-Care Week" programming)

HR Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyze HR metrics to guide strategic decisions
  • Formalize use of SSC's dashboards and analytics tools
  • Monitor leave usage and develop best practice sick leave management protocols and policy in collaboration with the Director of Residential Services

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role
  • Experience in residential care, group homes, or healthcare settings is a strong asset
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Scheduling, and HR software
