**Salary**: $2,626.89 to $3,448.73 bi-weekly ($68, 561- $ 90, 011/year)

The Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) Branch of Executive Council coordinates Alberta’s engagement with other Canadian governments in pursuit of outcomes that enhance Alberta’s status as an equal partner in the federation and achieve a federal system that better serves Albertans’ needs. IGR is responsible for supporting the Premier’s intergovernmental agenda, missions, and meetings. To that end, IGR works with ministries to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to intergovernmental relations. IGR also reviews and approves all of Alberta’s intergovernmental agreements to ensure they are consistent with Alberta’s goals and objectives.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Monitor and analyze political and policy developments and initiative across Canada with specific consideration for implications on Alberta.
- Particpate in policy recommendations and strategices concerning issues in federalism and constitutional details as they emerge.
- Prepare briefing materials and speaking notes for the Premier and senior officials.
- Support Alberta’s participation in key intergovernmental meetings, such as the Council of the Federation, the Western Premiers’ Conference, the New West Partnership and First Ministers’ meetings.
- Collaborate with government ministries and external stakeholders to ensure Alberta’s priorities are effectively represented.
- Ensure the government is fully informed to respond to public and intergovernmental develpments, helping to shape Alberta’s policy communications.

**Typical Problems You’ll Solve**:

- Responding to departmental queries on intergovernmental agreements and Alberta’s intergovernmental priorities.
- Reviewing and advising on Treasury Board’s intergovernmental agreements.
- Lead the process for supporting Premier, Deputy Minister, and Assistant Deputy Minister intergovernmental meetings.
- Develop and manage tracking and analysis systems for federal budgets, elections, and announcements.
- Managing research projects and determining appropriate responses to public and intergovernmental correspondence.
- Coordinate cross-government input on Federal-Provincial-Territorial issues.

**What You Bring**:

- A degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Canadian Studies, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Canadian federalism, constitutional law, and intergovernmental relations.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex policy issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills—your ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights is key.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across government departments and jurisdictions.
