How does this role contribute to our collective success?
As an Application Developer, you'll contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of applications and services that support insurance underwriting and operations teams. This role is part of AXIS Capital's ongoing modernization efforts to enhance business efficiency and drive revenue growth.
What will you do in this role?
- Collaborate with business analysts, testers, and development partners to build and enhance applications and services.
- Apply standard engineering practices within Agile delivery frameworks to produce well-tested, maintainable solutions.
- Share knowledge and collaborate effectively within the team, supporting internal stakeholders with clear and timely communication.
- Provide informal guidance and peer support to less experienced developers, contributing to a positive learning environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in production environments, with support available as needed.
- Follow established deployment and change management processes, while recommending improvements to enhance team efficiency.
You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.
About You:

What you need to have:
- 5+ years of full-stack application development experience
- Strong proficiency in web development using React or Angular
- Solid experience with Azure and .NET technologies
- Proven ability to create Azure-based REST APIs
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Git (or similar tools)
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and frameworks
- Track record of delivering quality code aligned with performance and usability standards
What we prefer you to have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Experience in the insurance industry
- Exposure to low-code platforms such as Unqork
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Azure APIM
- Understanding of DevOps pipelines
Role Factors:
This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of three days per week in our Halifax office to support team collaboration and engagement.
