Golden, BC (Head Office)
• Western & Northern Canada Projects
• Full-Time

Who We Are:

At Spur Construction, we are a versatile firm specializing in design/build, development, project management, and general contracting across western and northern Canada. Our expertise spans civil, hospitality, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and multi-family construction, with a strong track record in handling projects in remote areas with complex logistics

Our company culture is defined by creativity, solution orientation, and a "can do" attitude.

We work in First Nations communities and on traditional territories throughout western and northern Canada. Based on the traditional lands of the Ktunaxa Nation, we recognize reconciliation as an ongoing commitment that requires continuous learning and respectful engagement in all communities where we work.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced, highly capable Civil Foreman to join Spur Construction.

This is a leadership role for someone who knows civil construction inside and out — who can run crews, read full sets of drawings, plan the work, and execute it with precision.

You will lead field operations on a variety of remote and regional projects across Western and Northern Canada. This includes earthworks, roads, water/sewer systems, site prep, heliport construction, drainage systems, and unique community-driven infrastructure. You'll be expected to set the pace, uphold our safety culture, mentor our crews, and ensure the job is done right — the first time.

What You Will Do...

Leadership & Crew Management

  • Lead daily field operations with confidence, clarity, and good judgment.
  • Mentor operators, labourers, and junior foremen; build strong, respectful crews.
  • Run tailgate meetings, hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and enforce safe work practices.
  • Coordinate equipment, materials, and subcontractors.

Execution & Quality Control

  • Interpret and execute civil construction drawings, design specs, and as-builts.
  • Oversee earthworks, trenching, utilities, grading, and structural prep activities.
  • Lay out work, establish grades, and check tolerances.
  • Ensure production targets are met without compromising quality or safety.
  • Troubleshoot issues proactively and coordinate solutions with Project Managers.

Logistics & Remote Work

  • Plan and manage daily and weekly schedules.
  • Work in challenging environments — mountain passes, coastal inlets, fly-in communities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, community members, inspectors, and engineers.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily logs, quantities, site documentation, and progress reports.
  • Track materials used, crew hours, and equipment time.
  • Provide clear communication to the office and project management team.

What You Bring

  • 7–15+ years of civil construction experience, with at least several years in a foreman or lead-hand role.
  • Deep knowledge of earthworks, utilities, grading, road construction, and general civil infrastructure.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, engineering plans, and survey layouts.
  • Proven leadership of field crews and ability to set culture on-site.
  • Experience in remote, camp-based, or logistically complex projects is a strong asset.
  • High personal standards for quality, safety, and professionalism.
  • Ability to operate equipment when needed (bonus if you can run everything).
  • A mindset that aligns with Spur's Why: build with purpose, integrity, and impact.

Why Spur

  • Projects that matter to communities — not just contracts.
  • A tight-knit, values-driven culture that supports growth and leadership.
  • Competitive pay, benefits, travel coverage, and opportunities for increased responsibility.
  • Work with a company that values grit, trust, and pride in workmanship.
