Brake Press Operator

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily machine startup and shutdown procedures
- Establish and operator equipment under minimal supervision to fabricate and form products as per engineered drawings and parameters
- Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and other customer documentation
- Identify and maintain the appropriate tooling required to safely bend different thicknesses and material types
- Collaborate with cutting and powder coating departments to achieve deadlines
- Develop organization systems to perform quality checks, ensure deadlines are being met, etc.
- Perform first offs and follow-up quality checks throughout production process
- Detect non-conforming parts, record, and report to supervisor
- Ensure to correct issues related to safety before performing operations
- Initiate improvement to production processes to increase quality and efficiency
- Inspect, maintain, and manage machine for conformance and with safety requirements
- Ensure tooling cleanliness and in acceptable shape
- Resolve quality and mechanical problems, and repair minor issues along with equipment adjustments
- Report machinery malfunctions, failures to supervisor
- Follow and promote company's quality objective and policy
- Follow safety protocol by wearing protective PPE (CSA approved safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, etc. – see physical requirement section below)
- Ensure safety systems and procedures are followed
- Maintain a clean work area daily
- Cross training to work in other areas when required
- All other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 years of brake press experience (Required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with 3D software
- Experience with hand tools, power tools and measuring devices (tape measure, caliper, etc.) (Required)
- Read and write English fluently (Required)
- Read and correctly interpret prints (Required)
- Valid forklift license with an accredited institution, considered an asset
Working Conditions:
- Work to be performed primarily indoors in a semi-temperature controlled environment
- Potential interaction with chemicals and/or hazardous products (PPE provided)
- Occasional overtime work, including Saturdays
Physical Requirements
- Strength Guidelines
Required to lift minimum of 50 lbs without assistance
- Motion Parameters
Required to stand for long periods, bend, twist, lift, pivot, etc
Required to perform repetitive movements including bending, twisting, pivoting, etc.
Required to wear CSA approved safety shoes (re-imbursement allowance)
- Vision and Hearing Requirements
Required to wear provided safety glasses and/or face shield
Required to wear provided ear plugs
- Psychological Demands
Required to respond quickly, problem solve, possess high attention to detail, read and write, accept constructive criticism, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
