Waterloo, Ontario, Canada AltaML Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

About The Role
We are looking for someone who wants to develop AI-backed products that have direct impact on the Government of Alberta's (GoA's) strategic priorities.

This person enjoys finding new business ideas through discussion with government leaders, end-users, decision-makers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders.

They discover: they excel at communication and work to deeply understand workflows, and pain points. They use their strong technical understanding of ML, and Agentic AI to identify where these technologies can solve problems to transform how ministries and programs work. They use their product and business acumen to identify solutions that could create outsized impact for the GoA and beyond, grounded in responsible AI and designs that ensure transparency and trust. They go on to test these ideas by getting the product into users' hands, collecting feedback, and iterating towards higher impact.

They execute: they collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximize speed towards delivering impact to customers. They must understand where business value, user needs, and technical feasibility connect to deliver scalable, adoptable solutions for public sector innovation. They must be able to conduct thoughtful market research, identify assumptions, create hypotheses, design experiments, and track industry / tech trends. All the while, they identify risks and assumptions and adjust the aspirational vision to meet the program's needs. They balance speed and excellence, delivering high-quality work at the pace innovation demands.

Finally, they humbly evaluate our own processes and outcomes and iterate to improve performance, ultimately driving the GovLab program's success and delivering products that have valuable impact to Albertans..
