Help Build a Living Legacy. Alpha Better Landscaping is currently building in the following communities: Legacy, Wolf Willow, Seton, Cornerstone, Livingston, Carrington, Evanston, Rockland Park, Watermark, Haskayne (Bearspaw), Heartland (Cochrane) South shores, Waterford, Chelsea (Chestermere).
Alpha Better Landscaping is a family-run landscaping business that has been in operation since 1979. We are currently looking for a skilled skid steer operator/labourer/driver.
This is a seasonal position from April to Nov, winter snow removal positions may be available.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-trip and hazard assessment checks on equipment and job site.
- Perform assigned work on schedule, as directed by the Foreman and the project Superintendents.
- Operate equipment in a safe and effective manner, while avoiding damage to the company and other property.
- General knowledge of landscaping, such as grading, loaming, etc.
- Conduct work in accordance with OH&S requirements.
- Observe and note the condition of equipment to ensure standards are met and problems and defects are corrected.
- Be prepared to help crews with laborer tasks if there is no skid steer work onsite.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
Core Competencies:
- The ability to drive a truck and trailer is a must.
- Ability to communicate with crew members, foreman, and other colleagues.
- Ability to prioritize in order to meet tight deadlines.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Physical dexterity to handle prolonged sitting and operating a skid steer.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player.
- 1 to 2 years of experience operating a skid steer.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.
- Class 5 driver's license (non-GDL) with 2 years of driving experience, clean driver abstract, and reliable vehicle.
- Ability to drive a F550 truck with trailer (an asset)
- Own steel-toed boots (6" at Ankle).
- Weather-appropriate apparel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Alpha Better Landscaping offers:
- We offer competitive wages as well as overtime after 8 hours per day and 44 hours per week.
- We additionally sponsor high-potential employees wanting to pursue a long-term landscaping career through training and apprenticeship programs.
- Must have a valid driver's license, clean driver abstract, and a reliable vehicle.
- Must be willing to work hour days Monday to Friday, every other Saturday.
- Must have steel-toed boots (6-8" at Ankle).
- MUST Possess a CLEAN driver abstract, and be able to drive a truck with a trailer.
- Employees may additionally be offered possible Winter contracts for snow removal if they desire.
