The Position:

We're looking for a great EHS Specialist to join our growing group of fire protection professionals. As an EHS Specialist, you'll lead the charge in protecting our people and worksites, delivering hands-on Environmental, Health & Safety expertise to Ontario construction projects and ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory and company safety requirements. What You Will Do:

· Ensure compliance with applicable federal, provincial and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA construction/general industry, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, etc.)

· Perform regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with EHS procedures and customer-specific safety requirements

· Perform regular inspections of facilities, vehicles, tools and equipment

· Lead and document incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action tracking for incidents and near misses

· Support and/or conduct pre-job hazard assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development, investigations and root cause analysis.

· Support environmental components of the EHS management system (air quality, noise, compliance reporting

· Assist in Pre-job planning beginning with support to our Project Managers

· Develop project specific safety plans to address safety issues and concerns at the beginning of projects as well as during projects as needed

· Provide regular feedback to site supervisors in a constructive manner on areas for improvement and/or recognition

· Create a culture of safety; provide coaching and mentoring for associates exhibiting unsafe behaviors and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors

· Support and enforce hot work, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and other permit-required activities

· Good facilitation skills to deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and onboarding as required

· Assist and co-facilitate safety training & testing for all employees utilizing computer-based and hands-on methods

· Review and maintain training documentation

· Maintain and update EHS documentation in our Safety Management System

· Track leading and lagging EHS indicators and participate in continuous improvement efforts

· Support emergency preparedness, including rescue planning for confined spaces and remote job sites

· Promote a strong safety culture through visibility, engagement, and proactive risk mitigation

What You Bring:

· Degree in Occupational Safety Health or related field; or equivalent experience.

· 4+ years of EHS experience in commercial construction

· Working knowledge of OSHA standards for construction

· Ability to travel regularly between sites (London, GTA, Kitchener etc.) and construction field services sites (mostly within GTA, Kitchener and London ON)

· Strong communication and with the ability to influence without authority

· CHST, CSP Certifications Preferred

· Experience developing and implementing effective EHS management system, programs and procedures

· Ability to work with people & teams where they are at while understanding the greater EHS program and able to make progress achieving EHS goals

· Understanding of environmental legislation, air permits, use of chemicals

· Forklift/MEWP Trainer Certified (Required)

· CPR/FA/AED Certified Required (prefer Trainer Certification)

· Fall Protection and Scaffolding Competent Person (Required)

· Ability to work independently, and within diverse teams

· Proficient using technology & software, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), Safety Management Software

· Possess strong interpersonal, communication and EQ skills with ability to interact with all levels of roles, and a diverse team
