About DEWC
The Downtown Eastside Women's Centre (DEWC) exists to support and empower women and children, living in extreme poverty in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, who are particularly vulnerable to violence, exploitation, injustice, and injury. Through low barrier Drop-In Centers and Emergency Shelters, DEWC provides basic need services, programs, and specialized supports to over 1000 women and children daily to help them survive the conditions that surround them. The Opportunity
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for processing full cycle bi-weekly payroll including processing timecards, wages, taxes deductions and benefits and reconciliations. The specialist is also responsible for managing employee health and pension benefits including enrollment and changes. Reporting directly to the Director, People & Culture the Payroll & Benefits Specialist will work closely with the both the people and culture and finance teams to ensure smooth operations and accurate completion of the payroll and benefit functions. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.
About You
- 2+ years payroll and benefits experience preferably in a non-for-profit charitable organization in Canada and/or unionized environment
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation is required
- Candidates without PCP designation may be considered if they hold an accounting/payroll diploma/degree (or equivalent combination of education and/or experience).
- Working knowledge of BC Employment Standards, payroll legislation is required
- Experience working with accounting software such as Sage intact is preferred but not required
- Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Strong computer skills including in Excel.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and or ADP Workforce Manager, Ukg or other similar HRIS is a requirement
- Requires some work outside of normal schedule to undertake position responsibilities, meet deadlines, and ensure delivery of high-quality programs and services.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of the issues impacting women in the dtes, including gender-based violence, mental health, housing and substance use

POSITION DETAILS:
- In office position. Permanent, full-time, 9-day fortnight schedule. One week working Sunday to Thursday and the following week Monday to Thursday.
- Excluded Position: Salary Range: $66, ,675 /per annum based on experience and or education.
