CASUAL LABOURER – SNOW REMOVAL

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Manager Maintenance, the Casual Labourer – Snow Removal is responsible to keep Wood Buffalo Housing properties clear of snow and ice. This role is on an as-needed basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform snow removal using shovels, ice chippers, snow blowers, and other hand tools.

· Apply ice melt, salt, and sand to maintain safe walking and driving surfaces.

· Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Respond promptly to call-ins during snow events and work efficiently under varying weather conditions.

· Communicate hazards, equipment issues, and site conditions to the Supervisor.

· Other duties as required to ensure the safety of WBH properties during winter conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

· Grade 12 or equivalent

· Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, and prolonged periods of outdoor activity.

· Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible or irregular hours based on weather conditions.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to communicate effectively with others.

· Valid Alberta class 5 driver's license and abstract acceptable to Employer

· Must have access to a registered and reliable vehicle

· Acceptable criminal record check

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Work is performed outdoors in cold, snowy, and icy conditions.

· Shifts may occur early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays depending on weather.

· May be called on short notice.

SALARY:

$29.43 per hour **
