The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) division within the Ministry of Technology and Innovation (TI) leads the development of the next generation of digital public services for the GoA. DDD partners with other departments to deliver products, platforms and services that are better, faster, and easier, through modern user-centered agile processes. DDD offers potential candidates a unique opportunity to work on meaningful challenges that transform government and positively impact Albertans. 

The Platforms branch within DDD is accountable for supporting ministry programs through the planning, development, delivery and operations of user-centered common platform services. The branch builds and develops common platforms and data services that enable product teams to deliver working software that meets the needs of their users.

Role Responsibilities

The Platforms branch is looking for an Identity and Access Management (IAM) Policy Analyst. This position reports to the Manager, Technical Standards.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and analyzing Information Management and Technology (IMT) policies, frameworks, and technical standards, ensuring alignment with emerging trends and operational needs.
  • Leading the design, implementation, and review of the Risk-based Identity Verification Assessment (RIVA) framework and processes.
  • Managing annual RIVA reviews, coordinating updates, and addressing risk-related concerns with internal experts and governance bodies.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and national working groups to align digital trust policies and best practices.
  • Monitoring and evaluating policy performance through audits, feedback, and data analysis, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Supporting team success through mentorship, operational planning, reporting, and representing the unit in meetings or events.
  • Serving as Acting Manager of Technical Standards, when required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, Political Science, Arts, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field supplemented by at least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Experience collaborating with agile delivery teams, with the ability to design policies and standards that align with agile ways of working.
  • Knowledge of digital identity and access management standards (e.g., PCTF, DIACC, NIST, ISO, or equivalent).


Equivalencies:

  • A related two-year diploma and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience; or
  • A related one-year certificate and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience; or
  • A minimum of six (6) years of related experience.

Assets:

  • Familiarity with identity and access management, risk management, digital payment systems, or related IMT domains.
  • Experience working in or across government departments or public sector agencies.

Hours of Work: 7.25 hours daily / 36.25 weekly – Monday to Friday
 
Location: Remote in Alberta
 
This position is eligible for remote work. You must reside in Alberta to work remotely.
