Part-time - Winter 2026 Session

The Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club is seeking multiple Part-Time Swim Lessons Instructors for our learn to swim program. This position will consist of in-water instructing 2-15 hours per week, depending on your availability. GMAC is a Not-for-Profit swim club that has between swimmers registered throughout the fall, winter, spring, and June sessions.

Seeking enthusiastic, outgoing, knowledgeable swim instructors

Responsibilities:

  • Must be available to instruct after school/evenings, Saturdays and/or Sundays available for mid September until early December for the Fall session (depending on the day of the week) and optimistically to continue on for the Winter session and beyond
  • Available shifts:
  • Sundays 8am-145pm at VD pool 8am-1:45pm (Jan 11- March 8th, off Feb 15th)
  • Mondays at UofG 4-6pm Jan 5th - March 9th (potentially also March 23&30)
  • Tuesdays at VD pool 4-8pm or 5-8pm Jan 6- March 10th
  • Wednesdays at VD pool 4-6pm Jan 7th - March 11th
  • Saturdays at UofG 1-3pm Jan 10th - March 7th (off Feb 14th)
  • Mandatory training time in January 4th 1130am-1230pm at VD pool
  • Work with developmental group/learn to swim swimmers from age 3 to 14
  • Instruct swimmers on proper swimming technique as per criteria set and take feedback to adapt to presentation of skills
  • Create positive fun environment encouraging swimmers passion for the sport of swimming
  • Establish positive professional relationship with swimmers, parents and other coaches
  • Provide feedback and correction to each and every swimmer at each lesson
  • Write report cards for each swimmer prior to end of session.

Qualifications:

  • NCCP 101 an asset but not necessary
  • City Instructor certification - an asset
  • All certifications are current and in good standing with or willingness to train in order to hold position.
  • competitive swimmer background a plus
  • Has knowledge of technical and training aspects of competitive swimming.
  • Ability to communicate with swimmers, staff and parents is a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and in team environment
  • Must complete Safe Sport free clinic via
  • Upon hiring, if 18&over must present an up to date police check within 48 hours
  • Be a positive and enthusiastic role model

Experience in competitive swimming/coaching/instructing/lessons preferred Training can be provided in order to receive proper status for coaching.

$20.00/hour for regular instructors, $21/hour for those with NCCP 1
