The firm acts for Indigoblue Mortgage Investment Corporation, Indigoblue Management Corporation, Indigoblue Capital Corporation, and related entities, supporting sophisticated private and institutional lending transactions.
The Opportunity
Indigoblue Law PC is expanding and is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its growing team. This role is based out of our Etobicoke office and requires in-person attendance.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing mortgage conveyancing matters and independently handling mortgage enforcement files, including power of sale and foreclosure processes. The role also includes supervising conveyancing workflows and assisting with corporate and commercial matters as required.
This position is well suited to a lawyer who is comfortable exercising independent judgment, managing complex files, and working closely with senior management in a fast-paced, business-driven legal environment. The position reports to the CEO or his delegate.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage residential and commercial mortgage conveyancing files from start to finish
- Handle mortgage enforcement matters, including power of sale and foreclosure proceedings
- Prepare and review enforcement documentation and coordinate timelines and strategy
- Liaise with external litigation counsel where necessary
- Supervise and review mortgage conveyancing work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency
- Provide legal support on corporate and commercial matters as required
- Manage competing priorities, deadlines, and a diverse caseload
- Deliver high-quality, responsive service to internal stakeholders and clients
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 4 years post-call experience in real estate law with a strong focus on mortgage conveyancing and enforcement
- Demonstrated experience handling mortgage enforcement matters independently
- Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures as they relate to mortgage enforcement
- Thorough knowledge of the mortgage closing process from beginning to end
- Proficiency with Teraview and related conveyancing platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of files
- Client-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
Licensing
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (required)
- Membership with the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society is considered an asset
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $105,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
