Position Title: Metrology & Calibration Technician
Job Overview
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and precision of measurement instruments and systems used in manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for maintaining the Calibration Program and performing calibration tests according to international standards, company quality procedures and customer specific requirements. Key responsibilities include developing written test procedures, performing precision measurements, documenting results, troubleshooting faulty equipment, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Support product testing through metrology tests of critical quality parameters including dimensional and structural testing. This role is critical for quality control, product safety, and reliability.
Duties
- Performing calibration and verifications as per ISO13485 requirements on a variety of measuring instruments and testing equipment, ensuring they meet specified accuracy and precision requirements.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of calibration standard procedures and test methods, adhering to ISO 13485 standards. Maintaining calibration program as per a defined schedule to ensure compliance with ISO 13485 requirements for documentation and traceability.
- Conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of measurement equipment, including pin gauges, calipers, magnehelic gauges, length testers, cameras, balances, and temperature sensors. Provide troubleshooting and repairs, and write OOS reports as needed.
- Conducting environmental sampling including particulate counts, CO2, noise levels, and room conditions.
- Performing the testing of in-process and finished products according to defined acceptance criteria to support validations and product release. Analyzing data and generate reports.
- Engaging in compliance with relevant quality management systems. Participating in internal and external audits related to calibration activities.
- Supporting other departments to ensure calibration & test needs are met.
- Handling other laboratory related tasks as directed by management.
Qualifications
- Appropriate education in a related field (e.g., engineering, lab technology, metrology) from a recognized academic institution. CCT certification is a definite asset,
- Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of measurement science, mathematics, and electronics is essential.
- Attention to Detail: Precision is crucial, requiring a meticulous approach to calibration procedures. Proficiency in using various measurement instruments and equipment.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze problems and adapt equipment and procedures for unique measurement challenges.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with other departments like engineering and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of calibration methods and procedures, including measurement uncertainty and traceability.
- This is an afternoon shift positon, 3 pm to 11pm, M-F; employee will be trained on Day shift, then transition to afternoon shift once training complete.
- Hands-on experience in metrology laboratory setting with a minimum of three years' experience in calibration program administration.
- Experience in the development and execution of testing protocols is required.
- Knowledge of ISO13485 is a definite asset.
- Detail oriented, self-motivate and Problem solver. Ability to shift focus among multiple priorities quickly required.
- Ability to communicate in English at all levels of the organization both verbally and written.
- Basic understanding of statistical analysis of data (average, standard deviation, trend plotting, etc.) desired. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 2-4 months
Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
