About Us:

The Nanoose Economic Development Corporation (NEDC) is a community-owned enterprise of the Snaw-Naw-As First Nation, dedicated to building sustainable businesses that support economic independence, cultural stewardship, and community well-being. NEDC oversees Snaw Naw As RV & Cabins, Snaw-Naw-As Market & Fuel, Aquaculture, and Agriculture & Agritourism initiatives.

Position Summary:

The Manager of Tourism Development leads the growth, coordination, and management of NEDC's tourism-related enterprises. This includes full operational management of Snaw Naw As RV & Cabins and development of Indigenous, cultural, ecotourism, and agritourism programming.

Key Responsibilities:


• Manage Snaw Naw As RV & Cabins operations.


• Develop and execute a comprehensive Tourism Development Strategy.


• Lead tourism marketing, branding, and communications.


• Build partnerships with tourism and Indigenous organizations.


• Manage budgets, financial reporting, and revenue optimization.


• Recruit, train, and supervise front-line and seasonal staff.


• Support capital projects and tourism infrastructure planning.

Required Qualifications:


• Post-secondary education in Tourism Development, Tourism Management, Hospitality, Indigenous Tourism, Business with tourism focus, or equivalent.


• Minimum 3 years of progressive tourism or hospitality management.


• Experience designing or delivering tourism programming (Indigenous tourism, cultural tourism, agritourism, educational programs).


• Strong skills in marketing, accounting, and HR management.


• Experience leading cross-functional teams.


• Proficiency with digital marketing tools, reservation systems, and office software.

Preferred Assets:


• Experience working in Indigenous communities or Indigenous-owned enterprises.


• Knowledge of Indigenous Tourism BC (ITBC) standards and best practices.


• Familiarity with Vancouver Island tourism networks and funding programs.


• Background in community engagement or tourism product development.


• The ability to work hours in varying weather conditions, in a team environment and independently.
