Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming environment for all visitors.
- Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, to facilitate accurate billing and claims processing.
- Handle patient intake processes, including collecting demographic information, updating medical histories, and explaining office policies.
- Maintain accurate and organized medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Assist with billing procedures by reviewing documentation for accuracy, coding procedures with CPT and ICD codes, and processing payments.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette while managing appointment confirmations and patient inquiries.
- Support medical administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, documentation review, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with dental staff to coordinate care plans and ensure seamless communication between patients and providers.
- Utilize computer skills to operate office equipment efficiently, including typing at 10-key speed and managing Microsoft Office applications.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures, insurance verification processes, and coding systems including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 is essential.
- Familiarity with health information management practices and documentation review is required to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Strong customer service skills combined with excellent phone etiquette are necessary to foster positive patient relationships.
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse patient populations effectively.
