Overview:

McKenzie Lake Residents Association (MLRA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a range of recreational services and amenities to our community members. Our mission is to maintain a safe, enjoyable environment for both residents and guests. We are seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team and contribute to the upkeep and operations of our facilities.

Reports To:

Operations Manager and General Manager

Position Type:

Full-time, with a start date of April 14. This position requires flexibility to work 40 hours per week, with shifts that may include mornings, afternoons, or evenings. Availability to work on weekends and holidays may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute tasks and duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or General Manager, in accordance with operational needs and priorities.
  • Maintain the park's landscaping and horticultural areas, including shrub beds, flower beds, and containers, as well as lawn care (mowing, trimming, tree well maintenance, etc.).
  • Take a leadership role in training and mentoring staff
  • Conduct regular patrols of park grounds and the lake, ensuring safety, security, and compliance with MLRA rules and regulations.
  • Open and close the park in alignment with MLRA policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of park buildings, including facility booking areas.
  • Perform beach area maintenance, including raking and cleaning.
  • Maintain cleanliness of playgrounds, tennis courts, and beach volleyball courts.
  • Oversee the proper operation and upkeep of maintenance equipment.
  • Monitor and manage litter control, including changing garbage bins and ensuring a tidy environment throughout the park.
  • Effectively communicate with the public and fellow staff members in a courteous and professional manner.

Winter Responsibilities:

  • Snow removal from pathways and common areas.
  • Parking lot plowing
  • Set up and maintain ice skating areas and hockey rinks, including regular ice checks for safety.
  • Assist with the installation and takedown of the annual Christmas light display.
  • Provide general maintenance and upkeep of winter facilities and amenities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2-3 years of experience in landscaping, equipment operation, and general building maintenance.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification (training provided).
  • A positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Leadership abilities with a focus on team collaboration and independent problem-solving.
  • Capability to work effectively outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail.
  • Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated.
