Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As a
Communications Strategist
with the Enterprise Communications Team, your primary role will be to elevate our internal communications and, as needed, to fulfill public and media relations duties, all in support of Vancity's business goals and growth.

You will provide strategic advice, develop and implement communication plans, and craft compelling content to position Vancity's story effectively across diverse audiences. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on communicator who is skilled at producing content for a range of media, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who understands how to manage relationships and mitigate reputational risk.

This is a
Full-time, Permanent
role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the
Director, Enterprise Communications.
While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Providing comprehensive strategic communications advice, resources and tactics to achieve Vancity's project and program objectives
  • Developing and implementing communications plans and tactics, including events, to support department and organization goals
  • Identifying, analyzing and addressing internal and external audience communication needs
  • Advising and supporting issues management to mitigate reputational risk and impact
  • Monitoring, measuring and reporting effectiveness of communication strategies against project and program objectives, and modifying to improve outcomes as needed
  • Attending meetings with internal and external stakeholders related to Communications and Vancity project priorities and needs
  • Writing senior executive messages, briefing and speaking notes, key messages and stories
  • Producing presentations and other communications collateral, including graphics and videos

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of communications-specific experience in a complex and fast-paced environment
  • Experience in internal communications is an asset
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communication plans
  • Strong political acuity and ability to exercise informal influence across a large and diverse organization

Extra Skills That Set You Apart:

  • Experience in political or non-profit advocacy
  • Skills in video production, graphic design and/or photography
  • Familiarity with media relations and crisis communication
  • Certification with CPRS (Canadian Public Relations Society) and IABC (International Association of Business Communicators)

What You'll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of
$81,200 to $114,000 per annum
. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements
