As the Director, Long Term Operations Planning, you will be responsible for building the strategy so that the Operations team are collectively prepared to deliver on our future commercial goals as part of our New Frontiers strategy.
As a senior leader you will leverage your strong relationships with commercial, fleet and operations teams to understand the dimensions of the airline's overall strategy and develop solutions to allow us to realize our bold commercial ambitions. The decisions that you will make, and the creative solutioning you develop, will have multi-million-dollar implications for revenue and cost for Air Canada over multiple years as well as significant impacts on our reliability, on-time performance, productivity and customer experience.
As a strategic leader you will transform the way we work, developing and clearly articulating the strategic vision for operations to deliver the future commercial schedule.
Responsibilities
- Leading the integrated plan development for operations for Air Canada's longer term growth plan (e.g. 2026 and beyond) and act as the key point of contact for commercial teams in the development of Air Canada's future schedule strategy
Considering sensitive commercial information linked to future fleet and network strategy, coordinate inputs from across the SMEs in operations to establish the operability of the future schedule and associated dependencies that may include:
Future infrastructure requirements such as airport facilities and hangars – working with CRE teams
- Future workforce requirements included recruitment and training needs – working with People teams
- Future technology requirements such as mobility and automation – working with IT teams
Future supplier landscape to support growth – working with SP teams
Design a strategy to consider trade offs between commercial requirements and operational realities that maximizes revenue, schedule integrity, productivity, operational performance and customer experience.
- Responsible for understanding the asks and requirements of each operations business unit and leading an integrated project planning to ensure funding and implementation of dependencies happens in sequence to match the delivery of new aircraft and match the trajectory of schedule growth.
- Oversee the ongoing development of the operating model for integrated planning including designing future roles and responsibilities as well as future organizational design.
- Engage and build substantive relationships with key stakeholders across operations, commercial and finance including to EVP level.
- Collaborate with integrated planning team to ensure schedule design considerations are factored in as far in advance as possible
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in operations, with a focus on airline operations or related industries
- Proven expertise in strategic planning and execution in operations roles, with a track record of successfully implementing initiatives to improve operational results. Must possess the ability to translate strategic vision into actionable plans that drive results.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams. Must demonstrate the capability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization and drive alignment towards common objectives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Must be adept at conveying complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Proficiency in data analysis and technology utilization to drive performance improvements in operations. Ability to leverage data insights to inform decision-making processes and identify opportunities for optimization.
- A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for innovation. A willingness to challenge the status quo and explore new ideas to drive continuous improvement in the customer experience.
