Overview

We are looking for a Research and Development Manager to lead the research and development function, improve existing products, drive innovation, and ensure new products meet quality, regulatory, and market requirements. This role should apply the industry best practices and procedures in product and process development. It will collaborate closely with Sales & Marketing, Production, Quality and other departments to deliver successful product solutions from concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of new food products from concept through formulation, pilot testing, and scale-up.
  • Improve or reformulate existing products to enhance quality, nutrition, shelf life, cost efficiency, or sustainability.
  • Identify emerging consumer trends, ingredients, and technologies to drive innovation.
  • Effectively troubleshoot and resolve complex formulation & technical challenges with efficiency and precision.
  • Independently identify issues and present solutions to optimize product development processes.
  • Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements, food safety standards, and company specifications.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, formulas, and development records.
  • Partner with Production to support trials, scale-up, and process optimization.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce waste, improve sustainability, and enhance product consistency.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities to be assigned as required.

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Nutrition, Chemistry, or related field
  • 5 years or more of experience in product development or closely related experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proven knowledge with product development of raw meat or ready-to-eat food preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated success in product/process development, formulation, regulatory requirements.
  • Foundational knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with efficiency.
  • Effective communication skills within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese will be a strong advantage.
  • Open-mindedness and willingness to continually learn something new on an ongoing basis.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
