Position Overview
Reporting to, and in close collaboration with the Senior Sales Manager - Americas, this individual will join our commercial sales team and be responsible for managing all current direct and Reseller sales activities in Eastern and Western Canada. In addition to existing customers, the Sales Manager will manage new business coming in via phone, email, tradeshows, targeted outbound efforts and other lead sources. This person will work to encourage and facilitate the marketing of Merrithew products in their designated territory to drive sales revenue with existing customers, and will play a key role in highly targeted business development to help grow the company's direct sales and reseller network. The Sales Manager, Eastern & Western Canada will have a minimum of 5 years' experience selling to boutique Pilates studios, fitness clubs like Good Life, YMCAs, JCCs and other key fitness-related customers in North America.

Admin support is available through the Customer Service team (replacement parts, damaged shipments, etc.) and the Sales Coordinator - Americas, for qualifying new leads and Saved Carts opportunities.

Major Responsibilities

  • Sales

  • Meet and exceed annual set sales quotas.

  • Promote/negotiate/sell/secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based, consultative sales approach.
  • Respond with a sense of urgency to customer and prospect inquiries and prepare written presentations and price quotes.
  • Review and have a comprehensive understanding of largest customers and partnerships – either direct via Pilates studios, fitness clubs and yoga studios, through Education (LTCs or Host Site partners) or via Resellers.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of current Reseller partners and be able to articulate to the team their business, unique account-specific sales opportunities, how they communicate with their customers.
  • Be able to find and recommend any cross-channel sales opportunities with existing key partners. Develop an in-depth knowledge of their people, systems and accounts.
  • Visit our direct accounts and Reseller Partners, where appropriate, to train their staff, pitch customers and strategize on new Business Development opportunities.
  • Work with and assist the Senior Sales Manager - Americas, USA & Canada to facilitate the on-boarding of new Reseller partners.
  • Work with the Senior Sales Manager - Americas, USA & Canada and the Marketing team to ensure that marketing efforts are aligned, regionally with local opportunities.
  • Notify partners of all new releases, price increases and discontinued items, with Sales Coordinator support.
  • Develop comprehensive product knowledge of all lines of business to identify competitive features and benefits and favorably present Company products and services.
  • Review partner websites with sales coordinator to ensure Marcom guidelines are followed.
  • Research mind, body and fitness industry; new products, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities and other trends.
  • Report to Management on customer needs, technical issues, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.

  • Business Development

  • Research assigned territory, understand competitive landscape and identify new sales opportunities.

  • Understand the various trade show opportunities in each territory and how Merrithew is being represented in each of them.
  • Pass Reseller leads to Senior Sales Manager - Americas,for qualification.
  • Collaborate with equipment/education partners to create local events.
  • Build network and seek new opportunities, using social media sources including LinkedIn and Facebook, and trade associations etc.
  • Attend and participate in trade shows, conventions, sales meetings and product seminars and visit prospective customers.

  • Administrative/Customer Service

  • Manage forecasts, close deals, and track customer data using company standard CRM tools with an ongoing and accurate sales funnel.

  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems or logistical issues and complaints with all necessary departments.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a Business Development and/or Account Management role.
  • Bilingual- Must be able to speak both English and French to service the respective territory
  • Able to work independently with a proven track record in driving measurable results and exceeding sales targets.
  • Must use company CRM tools and keep exceptional notes and sales funnel management.
  • Strong business judgment and decision-making skills; ability to identify, prioritize and articulate highest impact initiatives for business development.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Able and willing to travel internationally and domestically as required for the position.
  • Superior problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and presentation proficiency specificallyvirtual selling competenceUse of Social Media as a sales tool to win, retain and service customers is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), both in articulating his/her ideas and gathering input from key stakeholders.
  • Additional languages, spoken and written, are a definite asset.
  • Sales experience in the fitness industry a requirement.
  • This is a mandatory English and French speaking position
