About The Role
Myticas Consulting is seeking a RAN Performance and Optimization Engineer to support a leading telecommunications provider in Toronto. In this role, you will focus on LTE and 5G NSA/SA radio access network (RAN) performance, driving KPI improvements across coverage, throughput, load balancing, and service quality.

You will own end-to-end performance analysis and optimization cycles: collecting and analyzing network data, identifying abnormalities, diagnosing root causes, and recommending parameter tuning, feature trials, and software upgrades to meet stringent contractual KPIs. You'll also generate regular performance reports, perform short‑term capacity and traffic assessments, and leverage automation techniques to streamline recurring optimization activities.

This is a hands-on, technically deep position where you will directly influence network quality for millions of end users.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced network performance monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting across LTE and 5G NSA/SA RAN to meet contractual KPI targets
  • Develop, review, and recommend network-wide design and optimization strategies for performance, spectrum, and capacity
  • Organize and analyze field measurements, laboratory tests, and network audits, especially in cases of faults, escalations, or complex multi-vendor issues
  • Execute LTE and 5G feature evaluations and optimization trials for coverage, throughput, load balancing, layering, traffic steering, and drop-call/KQI improvements
  • Analyze UE and eNB/gNB logs (e.g., UU, X2, S1 signaling), drive test logs, OSS KPIs, TTI traces, and EMIL/DCAP logs for rapid issue identification and resolution
  • Produce daily/weekly/monthly performance and technology reports, including capacity utilization and traffic pattern assessments, and recommend future network and capacity strategies
  • Support the development and review of network configuration files, parameters, and interface behavior, engaging with customer teams on technical discussions and KPI reviews

Requirements

  • Based in Canada (preferably within the Greater Toronto Area) and able to work standard North American (NAM) time zone hours
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in LTE and 5G NSA/SA RAN performance and optimization engineering, including leading or executing optimization/trial projects focused on coverage, throughput, load balancing, layering, and traffic steering
  • At least 5 years of combined work and/or education experience in Canada in telecommunications or wireless networking roles
  • Strong experience analyzing UE and eNB/gNB signaling logs (e.g., UU, X2, S1) and using UE logging tools such as QXDM, XCAL, or equivalent
  • Experience using Actix or similar tools for post-processing drive test logs and producing network performance/KPI reports

Preferred Skills

  • Experience analyzing internal syslogs, eNB/gNB EMIL/DCAP logs, and TTI traces for LTE/5G troubleshooting
  • Experience performing capacity utilization and traffic pattern assessments to recommend network architecture and capacity strategies
  • Background working directly with external customers on technical discussions, KPI reviews, and performance recommendations
  • Experience supporting North American mobile operators and/or working in multi-vendor RAN environments
  • Strong communication skills and a self-starter mindset, able to independently assess network configurations and define feature/parameter trial plans
