Performance and Optimization Engineer

We are looking for a Performance & Optimization Specialist for one of our clients to perform network performance, monitoring, and analysis by collecting and analyzing information, identifying the abnormalities from sources in the domain of the customer solution, diagnosing root causes of performance issues, and recommending improvement for optimization actions (i.e., QoS Optimization, parameter tuning, SW Upgrades, etc.) to meet contractual KPI targets. They find problems that were not identified during testing. In addition to diagnosing network performance issues, the Performance & Optimization Specialist generates daily/weekly/monthly reports related to technology aspects of the customer solution. The specialist performs short-term capacity utilization and traffic pattern assessments to evaluate impact on current and future architecture and recommend optimal network strategy for future traffic/capacity needs, leveraging automation techniques to reduce analysis time and other optimization related activities that involve repetition.

Required Technical Skill Set

• Strong understanding of 5G NSA, SA (FDD & TDD) and LTE.
• Past hands-on experience with trials/optimization projects for 5G NSA/SA with demonstrated experience on 5G Features for Coverage optimization (e.g. SRS Beamforming), Throughput optimization, Load balancing, layering and Traffic Steering from low to high bands..
• Past hands-on experience with trials/optimization projects for LTE with demonstrated experience on 4G Features for Data/VoLTE Drop call improvement, Load balancing, Layering and Traffic Steering from low to high bands.
• Ability to analyze internal syslogs, eNB/gNB EMIL/DCAP logs, TTI traces for quick troubleshooting and issue resolution for lab or field activities.
• Expertise with UE and eNB/gNB signaling log analysis (UU, X2, S1 signaling)
• Exposure with UE logging tools such as QXDM, XCAL, or equivalent and should be proficient with those tools.
• Experience with Actix post processing of DT logs.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs critical (sometimes escalated) design and performance activities in customer projects independently (complex problem solving in projects and multi-vendor environments).
• Develops / Reviews and makes recommendations on network-wide Design covering Performance, Spectrum & Capacity supported by Recommendations (within and across the region).
• Organizes field measurements and laboratory tests. Performs network audits, especially in cases where fault or problems exist.
• Optimizes networks with all components based on traffic trends and customer forecasts.
• Supports experts in developing network configuration file and interface analysis

Project Specific Roles

• I. LTE LMS assessment and LTE Features evaluation and executing trials for Load balancing, traffic steering campaigns for movement from low to high bands.

II. LTE and VoLTE Drop call rate improvement via troubleshooting configuration issues, analysis of counters and coming up with trial plan for KPI improvement based on feature trials and parameter tuning (not look for RF shaping skillset)

III. 5G LMS assessment and 5G Features evaluation and executing trials for 5G DL/UL Throughput improvement, Coverage improvement and traffic steering from low to high bands.

IV. Troubleshooting hot topics via OSS KPIs, TTI traces, EMIL traces etc
