Posting closes: December 3, 2025

Employment Status: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Additional Information: This role requires flexibility in work hours, location, or travel to support critical incidents, security events, or special projects. Whether it's through profit sharing, competitive rates, or local initiatives that make a real impact, we're here to help Albertans feel good about their money.

We're looking for passionate, values-driven people to join our team. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who are aligned with our values and are eager to contribute in meaningful ways. If you're excited to grow your career with a team that's innovative, hardworking, collaborative and deeply rooted in community, we want to meet you.

Join Servus and discover a better way to work.

As a Security Analyst, reporting to the Director of Security Operations, you'll support the monitoring, detection, and initial response to security events using enterprise security platforms such as security information and event management (SIEM) / extended detection and response (XDR) and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) rules. This includes triaging alerts, escalating incidents, maintaining documentation, and contributing to the tuning and optimization of security tools.

A key aspect of the role is providing day-to-day operational support to Security Operations by assisting with investigations, performing technical analysis, and contributing to process improvements. The Security Analyst collaborates with team members across IS, Data Technology, and Cybersecurity to ensure security events are identified and addressed promptly.

This position requires a strong interest in cybersecurity, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. The Security Analyst will develop practical experience in threat detection, incident response, and security technology management, contributing to Servus's overall defense and resilience strategy.

What You'll be Doing:

Security Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Monitor and triage security alerts from SIEM, EDR/XDR, email, and other sources; escalate relevant threats to senior analysts or MDR providers as needed.
  • Assist in incident investigations by collecting relevant data, preparing documentation, and supporting containment and remediation activities.
  • Follow established escalation and communication procedures to ensure timely response to potential threats.

Security Technology Support

  • Support the management and monitoring of firewalls, web application firewalls (WAF), bot defense systems, secure email, proxies, URL filtering, and DLP tools.
  • Assist with firewall change reviews, WAF alert monitoring, and rule validation to maintain compliance and security effectiveness.
  • Participate in tool evaluations, providing feedback on usability and effectiveness during proof-of-concept or testing phases.

Threat Intelligence & Vulnerability Monitoring

  • Track and log indicators of compromise (IOCs) from internal and external threat feeds, escalating high-priority findings as appropriate.
  • Review vulnerability advisories, vendor alerts, and security announcements to identify potential risks to Servus's systems.
  • Contribute to the integration of threat intelligence into monitoring platforms and workflows.

Documentation, Learning & Collaboration

  • Maintain and update team documentation, runbooks, and knowledge bases to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in team knowledge-building sessions, cross-training, and continuous learning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with IS, Cybersecurity, and other business units to support incident handling, tool improvements, and process enhancements.

What you Bring:

Experience and Education:

  • 1–2 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT, with exposure to security operations, monitoring tools (e.g., SIEM, EDR/XDR), and basic incident response.
  • Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts including event monitoring, phishing detection, data protection, and network security.
  • Hands-on exposure to security technologies such as SIEM platforms, secure email gateways, EDR/XDR, web proxies, DLP, and firewall tools.
  • Ability to investigate basic incidents, document findings, and follow established response and escalation processes under supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with technical and business teams effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple alerts and tasks, maintain accurate records, and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to staying informed on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Licenses/Certificates:

  • CompTIA Security+
  • GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
  • ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)
