Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Italian Speaking Overnight Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide exceptional care and support to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities during overnight hours. As an Overnight PSW, you will deliver personalized care, ensure safety, and promote independence while working in a dynamic and supportive team environment. Fluency in Italian is essential to effectively communicate with residents and their families, fostering trust and comfort.

Duties

  • Provide high-quality personal care including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Monitor residents' vital signs and overall health status, reporting any changes promptly
  • Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols and maintaining accurate records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Support residents with dementia or memory care needs through specialized techniques and behavior management strategies
  • Operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers to ensure safety and comfort
  • Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring proper hygiene and cleanliness in meal areas
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing light housekeeping duties within the resident's personal space and common areas

Experience

  • Previous experience working in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, retirement homes, or personal care homes is highly preferred
  • Proven background in assisting with ADLs, medication management, and vital signs monitoring
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other memory impairments is advantageous
  • Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation and record-keeping purposes
  • Knowledge of assisted living or home & community care environments is beneficial
  • Demonstrated ability to work overnight shifts in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail and compassion
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Italian are essential for effective resident engagement
