Volunteer Food Bank Driver
Summary: Looking to recruit a volunteer driver (with a valid G license) who has a flexible schedule, and can help with organizing pick-ups for donations, senior delivery, and bread delivery.
Our volunteer drivers play a crucial role in making nutritious food available to individuals in the community, such as seniors and individuals with disabilities. As a volunteer driver you will be part of a team that helps to build on resources and improve food security in the community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
● Helping to load and unload deliveries for the senior food delivery program.
● Being aware of any pending donations on the Second Harvest Food Rescue App, and having the capability to organize the pick-up for donations.
● Representing ANIDA well and following organization protocols, when interacting with community members and completing tasks.
● Availability for Bread Nights and Senior Delivery days(Wednesdays), pick-up and drop-off.
Requirements:
● Must have a Valid G License.
● Must be able to lift and carry roughly 25 pounds/11 kgs.
● Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
● Must be willing to take initiative, be dependable and punctual.
● Must be courteous and personable when dealing with the public.
Training & Supervision
● Complete Volunteer On-boarding Package.
● Attends a general volunteer orientation and tour of the food bank.
Hours/Commitment:
● Monday-Thursday: In consideration of the Second Harvest Food Rescue App.
**This role requires the individual to look out for donations on the Second Harvest Food Rescue App, in which they will claim the donation and organize the pick-up/collection.
● Senior Delivery — Every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 12pm-3pm.
● Bread Night — Weekly on Wednesdays from 6pm-8pm.
