Reporting to the Director, Operational Services the Data Analyst offers support to Operations by ensuring performance metrics data used in reporting is accurate, complete and current. Utilizing investigative, organizational and analytic skills, the Data Analyst collects and curate's data, performs data mining and creates reports to provide insight into business opportunities and trends.

This position is based in the Calgary, AB office.

What You Will Be Working On:

Process Identification & Analysis

  • Identify candidate processes for automation based on volume, complexity, and business impact.
  • Analyze existing workflows to understand inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to document current state processes.

Solution Design & Planning

  • Design future-state automated workflows aligned with business goals.
  • Select appropriate automation tools and platforms (e.g., RPA, BPM, low-code platforms).
  • Develop business cases and ROI analyses for automation initiatives.

Implementation & Development

  • Configure or develop automation scripts, bots, or workflows.
  • Integrate automation solutions with existing systems (e.g., ERP, CRM).
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance throughout implementation.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct unit and integration testing of automated processes.
  • Validate outputs and ensure automation meets business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during testing phases.

Deployment & Change Management

  • Roll out automation solutions in a controlled and phased manner.
  • Train end-users and support teams on new automated processes.
  • Manage change communication and adoption strategies.

Monitoring & Optimization

  • Monitor performance of automated processes post-deployment.
  • Collect metrics and feedback to assess effectiveness.
  • Continuously improve and refine automation based on evolving needs.

Governance & Documentation

  • Maintain documentation for automated workflows, configurations, and exceptions.
  • Establish governance frameworks for automation standards and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal audit requirements.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with business units, IT, and external vendors.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to promote automation awareness.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Computer science or related degree preferred
  • Experience working in labour-based service industry serving energy, oil and gas and petrochemical customers
  • Expert in Excel (queries, pivot tables and vlookups)
  • Experience with Power Query an asset
  • Experience with Power Apps and Power Automate an asset
  • Proficient in other Microsoft Office Programs
  • Experience with visualization software such as Power BI including use of connectors to Dataverse, Azure and other data providers an asset
  • Experience with software implementation specifically master data collection, transformation and normalization
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and users
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges with success in a dynamic business environment
  • An affinity for organization, documentation, data, process and reporting
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills and a high degree of accuracy and impeccable attention to detail
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills including the ability to converse with technical professionals as well as operations end users.
