Company:Finning CanadaNumber of Openings:1Worker Type:PermanentPosition Overview:Reporting directly to the Service Supervisor, the Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting and overseeing repairs on a variety of Caterpillar components in a shop environment. This position will have a focus on Power Systems and components, including rebuilding, inspecting, and assessing transmissions, torque convertors, differentials, final drives, traction motors, and engines.

The successful candidate will work a 5x2 shift and will report to our Power Systems – Edmonton facility.Job Description:
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and perform equipment repairs

  • Assist in fulfilling our customer service commitment

  • Troubleshooting Caterpillar equipment and perform equipment repairs

  • Interface with customers, products and sales support

  • Working with the Supervisor on various tasks

  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements

  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment

  • Various related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Journeyman HET certification

  • Five years experience as Journeyman HET

  • Previous Power Generation experience 

  • Self-motivated

  • Team player capable of working with minimal supervision

  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail

Assets:

  • Service, troubleshoot and repair electrical power generation equipment and compressors

  • Trouble shooting and performing repair on Caterpillar equipment
